Websites for mobile phones (11th December 2009)
Make your website accessible to mobile users. Over 80% of adults and over 60% of teens have a mobile phone in the UK and around 25% use their mobile phone to surf the net. With mobile internet speeds getting quicker as technology improves everyday and not forgetting to mention that browsing costs are so affordable these days, this market is simply going to boom.
While most websites can be viewed on a mobile phone, the pages do not render as they were originally intended. This is obviously down to the size of the screen. Lets face it, most of us never leave home without our mobile phones so there could be an opportunity to take advantage of this mobile market.
I recently stumbled across MobiSitesGalore and designed a simple mobile website for DC WebSolutions.

This can be viewed in a normal desktop browser but obviously will look better if you view it from a mobile phone.
You can add advertising features such as Google AdSense and AdMobs and E-Commerce features such as Google Checkout and PayPal.
MobiSitesGalore do offer hosting for these websites, however if you have a hosting account either purchased through DC Web Solutions or elsewhere, you can store the files there.
